You need to trust your photographer more than any other vendor present on your wedding day, as they hold your memories in their hands.
During the initial stages of booking wedding vendors, you’ll feel like you’re placing a lot of trust, and money, in everyone. You’re trusting that the baker will deliver your cake on time. The bridal stylist will alter your dress to fit you perfectly. And you’ll have faith that the wedding coordinator knows what they’re doing. But no other vendor demands your trust more than a wedding photographer. They alone (besides a videographer) have complete control over your memories of the big day. And without trust, they cannot capture them as you desire.
Today, I’ll share exactly why you need to trust your wedding photographer during the planning process, and what the benefits of doing so are. In the hope that I may make you more comfortable in front, and away from the camera.
Why You Must Trust Your Wedding Photographer
Trust is a vital ingredient to any relationship, and this is no truer than with your wedding photographer.
Stress
There’s no two ways about it, planning a wedding is stressful. Especially if you’re not used to arranging an event on such a large scale. Therefore, if there is anything you can do to lift some weight off your shoulders, you should do it. Placing trust in your wedding photographer early in the planning process, and making peace with the idea that they’ll do a good job, will help your stress levels no end.
They’re Going to be Following You Around All Day
Other than your partner, your photographer will probably be the person you see most of all on your big day. They will be following you around like an A-list celebrity for the majority of your celebration, so you need to feel comfortable in their presence.
You have to trust in their personality, be sure of the vibe they give off, and know that you’ll be able to present the best version of yourself around them. The best way to do this is meeting in person. Only by getting to know a potential photographer face-to-face, can you really tell if they are right for you. If you do believe your personalties gel, then you should also book an engagement shoot. That way, you can also see how they make you feel while giving directions. Plus, you’ll have some cool shots for your wedding website!
You’ll Look Better in Your Wedding Photos
It almost goes without saying that if you trust your wedding photographer, and really feel like they’re doing a good job, you’ll look better in your photos. You’ll look relaxed, at ease, and you’ll be much more responsive to their directions.
They Know What’s Best
A good wedding photographer will have properly scouted the location of your ceremony, and reception to familiarize themselves with the area, and work out the best spots to shoot from. They’ll know which areas will get the best light, at what time, and they’ll know just what position you should be in to find it. That experience alone makes a professional photographer invaluable, and worthy of your absolute trust.
Editing
Much of a wedding photographer’s style is created during the editing process. The tones, effects, and crops they use can totally alter the overall look of your images. Therefore, it’s vital that if they show you a few unedited shots during the big day, you remember they’re not the finished article. Trust in the talent of your photographer, and believe that they will take the raw images of your celebration, and turn them into something spectacular.
